Located just 10 minutes north of Lansing, DeWitt's rural roots are apparent with its sleepy downtown and abundant farmland. With a location so close to Lansing, but with the tranquil rural environment preserved, DeWitt has seen unprecedented growth since the 1980s. The area is now scattered with close-knit subdivisions, bike trails, parks, and many community events.
The charm of small town America is still apparent with its many local shops, restaurants, coffee shops, and the barber shops downtown. Locals also enjoy ice cream at Scoopy Doos and pies from the Sweetie-licious Bakery. The award-winning schools are the backbone of the community and local sports (DeWitt is the home to 2012 Olympic Gold Medal gymnast Jordyn Wieber) and theater groups continuously impress. There are various festivals and community events throughout the year, including the Ox Roast in August, and Ice Festival in December, and a Farmer's Market every Tuesday during the summer and early Fall.
As of the 2rd quarter of 2019, the average sales price in DeWitt was $270,237, up 5.6% over the same period in 2018.
